Wirrimbirra Sanctuary is owned by the National Trust of Australia (NSW), and managed as a wildlife reserve by David. G. Stead Memorial Wildlife Research Foundation of Australia.
It was created in the 1960s by Thistle Stead preserving 'Bargo Brush' and promoting propagation of Australian native plants. Wirrimbirra operates as a flora and fauna reserve, education and research centre.
Wirrimbirra has over 200 acres of preserved native bushland. The unique flora is part of its preserve, including endangered species; also a fauna reserve, where you may see wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, possums, and other native animals in natural habitats.
Wirrimbirra Sanctuary has walking trails, environmental studies centre, parking, picnic facilities, well equipped school room, resource room and a barbecue area. Visitors are free to wonder through the Sanctuary and native plant nursery. See the many ways to create a bush garden.
