The Workshops Rail Museum

The Workshops Rail Museum is an AUD20 million wholly interactive authentic heritage and cultural experience located at Australia's oldest operating railway workshop. Hands-on exhibits and multi-media encounters bring rail to life with modern displays, train simulators, real trains to climb aboard, the Nippers Railway kid zone and the largest model railway of Queensland. The Workshops Rail Museum also plays host to a range of exhibitions and exciting school holiday events throughout the year, including the annual "Day out with Thomas" event. Take a tour into Queensland Rail's active heritage workshops to see the gems of the State's heritage Steam Train fleet being restored and maintained. See sparks fly and feel the heat of the furnaces as you enter the largest industrial site in Australia open for public access. Enclosed footwear required.
