About Gundagai Heritage Railway

Gundagai railway station is a New South Wales State Heritage-listed timber station dating from 1886. The station closed in 1984 and since 1992 has been restored into a tourist attraction which sees local and international tourists come to visit. Many historical displays and photos are in the museum and in the yard rollingstock can be seen. The museum is managed by a volunteer team which is keen to showcase the NSW rail history. Each year Open Day events are held to attract people and raise further awareness. Volunteers work on restoring the station and yard with plans to rebuild the line and run tourist trains in the future. The station is five minutes off the Hume Highway - come and spend 30 minutes or so at the station and learn some local history. Donations are welcomed to keep the project running as is any support from interested volunteers or members.
