The Space Place Observatory

At the Space Place Observatory visitors experience the wonder of space by viewing through telescopes, engaging with astronomers and by interacting during a night sky presentation that highlights our Universe.  Our telescopes take you hurling back in time revealing space as it was thousands of years ago. 

FACT: (If you’re viewing a star that is 5,000 light years away then you are actually seeing the light from that star as it was 5,000 years ago because that’s how long it takes the light to reach us here on Earth)

The Space Place Observatory has 4 large telescopes for public access and a few pairs of high magnification binoculars. We have a Galactic Reception area and a Space Shop!

We were also privileged to film for NASA Jpl California the Asteroid 2012 DA 14 that passed over the Earth in February 16th 2013.
