Located near the town of Green Head, South Bay is a long stretch of white sand beach, ideal for swimming and fishing or just walking along an uncrowded and unspoiled beach. The bay is part of the Three Bays Walkway which takes you along the coast past the bays of South Bay, Dynamite Bay and Anchorage Bay.
The bay is also known as Fisherman's Island Lookout, as it overlooks Fisherman's Island off the shore of the Turquoise Coast. This island is one of only three in the area that is used as a breeding ground by the endangered Australian sea lion. These are the rarest species of sea lion across the globe.
The coastal towns of Green Head and Leeman experience some of the strongest summer winds, making them popular for windsurfing, surfing, boating and diving, attracting windsurfers and surfers from all around the world. Leeman is also host to the annual `Screaming Leeman' windsurfing competition in November....
